Awards

EurBee will award prizes for the best student oral presentation and for the best student poster presentation.

The awards are titled in honor of two distinguished bee researchers: Prof. Norberto Milani (University of Udine, Udine, Italy) and Prof. Ingemar Fries (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden), respectively.

Selection Committee and Eligibility

Student oral and poster presentations are judged by a panel of members of the Scientific Committee. The winners are announced at the congress during the closing banquet. Each prize is endowed with a fund of 250 Euro.

In addition, the winner of the best student oral presentation will receive a one-year subscription to the Journal of Apicultural Research, and winner of the best student poster presentation a one-year subscription to Bee World sponsored by International Bee Research Association (IBRA).

As part of the first round of selection, submitted abstracts will be assessed according to:

  • Soundness of methods

  • Importance of the problem for the research domain

  • Significance of the results

The abstracts selected after the first round will then be assessed during the oral and poster presentations according to the following criteria:

  • Clarity with which the problem (hypotheses) is (are) stated

  • Identification of important variables and factors

  • Clarity of the discussion

  • Effective use of graphs and/or tables in presenting the data

  • Organization and neatness of the presentation

  • Accuracy of the language used

Criteria

The student awards are for PhD students only and candidates must not be older than 35 years. They should act as principle investigator of the work presented and do the presentation themselves.

By their participation, the candidates accept the general conditions of the awards.

The Insects journal will award prizes for the two best oral presentations.

The journal will select the two winners who give the oral presentations. The winners are announced at the congress during the closing banquet and receive appropriate certificates. Each prize is endowed with a fund of 250 Euro.
